Cold roll forming steel is widely used because of its energy-saving and environmental protection characteristics. It is no longer completely dependent on increasing the amount of plate or improving the mechanical properties of materials to complete the required specified load with less steel consumption, but by changing the cross-section shape of steel products to improve the mechanical properties of steel.

Cold roll forming steel originated in 1838. Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom used presses or cold-drawn machines to produce individual steel products. This was the prototype of a cold roll forming steel unit. In 1910, the United States took the lead in building an old roll forming steel unit, which produced a continuous cold-formed process. After that, old roll forming steel began to form industrialized production, and thus moved to the world stage.

The general cold roll forming process carried out by cold roll forming machine manufacturers includes: single sheet forming, roll forming and continuous forming, combined forming.

1. Single Sheet Forming
The single sheet forming process is to cut the sheet into a specified length in advance, and then send the sheet into the forming machine through a material selection roller. The profile after rolling can be directly collected and put into storage. It is especially suitable for the products which are easy to be cut and deformed after forming, and is mostly used for small batch production. Its advantages are simple equipment, low investment and small footprint.

2. Roll Forming and Continuous Forming
The process of roll forming and continuous forming is basically the same. The difference between them is: the joints of the continuously formed plates must be welded so that the plates can be formed continuously; while the rolling forming process is single coil supply. The equipment investment and floor space required by these two processes are relatively large.

3. Combined Forming
The combined forming process is a forming process for processing special steel materials. Sectional steel has special requirements for forming process and requires complex-forming equipment, which is suitable for processing high-strength plates. The equipment requirements are complex and the investment is high.

With the continuous development of science and technology, cold roll forming technology has been widely used for its energy-saving, environmental protection, high efficiency and other characteristics. At the same time, roll forming steel products are also widely used in construction, bridge, vehicle manufacturing, container production, machinery manufacturing and many other industries, where
roll forming steel products have played a huge role.
