Nylon 6, namely polyamide 6, is a translucent or opaque milk-white crystalline polymer. Nylon 6 slice has the characteristics of good toughness, strong wear resistance, oil resistance, shock resistance, etc. It has high mechanical strength and heat resistance, good impact strength, high melting point, good molding and processing performance and high water absorption. The saturated water absorption is about 11%. It is soluble in sulfuric acid phenols or formic acid. Embrittlement temperature is -20℃～-30℃.
Nylon 6 slices are widely used. According to their usage, they can be divided into fiber grade, engineering plastic grade, stretch film grade and nylon composite materials. They are made into various products. Globally, more than 55% of nylon 6 slices are used to produce various civil and industrial fibers. About 45% of the slices are used in automobile, electronic and electrical, railway and packaging materials. In Asia-Pacific, nylon 6 slices are mainly used to produce fiber products. The proportion of nylon 6 used to produce engineering plastics and membrane products is very small. 
Nylon 6 filament is the most important variety of nylon fiber, which can be divided into domestic filament and industrial filament. The output of domestic filament accounts for more than 60% of the total output. Domestic filament is mainly used to produce underwear, shirts, stockings and other textile and clothing products, while industrial filament is mainly used to produce cord fabric, which is mainly used to make diagonal tire. With the shrinking market share of diagonal tires in recent years, the consumption of nylon 6 in this field will be difficult to improve in the future, so the consumption will be mainly in the field of civil filament.
As for engineering plastics, there is no outstanding advantages of nylon 6 in overall performance. There are many alternative products. Therefore, the total application amount and proportion of nylon 6 slices in the field of engineering plastics are very small all the time. In the future, it is difficult to make a big breakthrough in the market consumption expectation in this field.
Nylon 6 slice film can be used in all kinds of packaging. Nylon composite materials, including impact-resistant nylon, reinforced high-temperature resistant nylon, etc., are used to make appliances with special requirements, such as impact drills, lawnmowers, which are made of reinforced high-temperature resistant nylon.
