After the projector lens is used for a period of time, stubborn dust will adhere to the surface, resulting in reduced light efficiency and degraded image quality. How to clean the projector lens is different from cleaning the camera lens. The projector lens has a large caliber, and since most people do not cover the lens lid, it is more complicated to clean the projector lens because it is exposed to air for a long time and dust adheres more seriously.

Clean the projector lens surface

Cleaning the projector lens is mainly divided into two steps: first, blowing off dust on the surface; second, wiping off stains on the lens surface. However, improper operation can easily cause many scratches like it does on glasses and reduce the image quality.

The first step of projector lens maintenance-- blow off the dust on the projector lens surface

The dust on the lens surface of the projector is usually large particle. If it is wiped directly, the particles will grind the lens surface and easily scratch the lens surface. There are usually three ways to blow off the dust on the projector lens surface:
Clean surface dust

Use a professional projector dust removal tool-air gun, supplied with high-pressure gas by air pump; use a balloon to blow in the way that a watch repairer who always blow intermittently and slightly. For ordinary users, it is also possible to blow directly with the mouth when there are no special tools. However, pay attention, it is okay to only small number of projectors. If there are more projectors, I am afraid it will cause oxygen deficiency. In these three methods, tools do not contact the lens surface, so large particles of dust will avoid scratching the lens surface.

The second step of projector maintenance-- wipe off the stains on the projector lens surface

Wiping tools are alcohol and wiping paper. Of course, for ordinary users, alcohol can be replaced by erguotou(a kind of alcohol drink) or the like. However, you’d better use wiping paper especial for lens, because ordinary paper towels are mixed with some large particles of impurities and are easy to scratch the lens. When we go to buy glasses, the clerk will also remind us that paper towels easily scratch glasses.

The wiping tools are alcohol and wiping paper.

How to wipe it next? Use folded audition paper stick and dip it in alcohol to wipe it. First of all, we folded the audition paper into a thick paper stick. The reason for this is to use its elasticity to slide on the lens surface and take away the dust, instead of wiping it back and forth on the lens surface by hand.

Paper folding method

You must be careful not to rub paper or cloth back and forth on the lens like we do on glasses. With careful observation, you would find that most of the glasses have scratches, but we may not feel them. The scratches on the projector lens, after being cast on the curtain and magnified N times, have a very severe impact on the picture quality.

Clean the lens

So wipe the audition paper along the same direction. After wiping once, place the audition paper at the edge of the lens to take away the dust, instead of wiping back and forth, in which way dust is brought back to the lens. After wiping the surface in turn, the surface of the projector lens is cleaned.

When using dust-free cloth to wipe the lens, pay attention to wiping in one direction, and avoid wiping back and forth or in circles to avoid causing hard injury of lens coating. If there is no special dust-free cloth, you can also choose to wipe the suede or lens paper used for the lens. When scrubbing, be careful not to press the lens surface hard, because the lens surface is covered with a layer of easily damaged coating, which can be easily wiped off due to hard cleaning. If there are stubborn stains on the lens, such as finger marks, grease, etc., cleaning fluid is needed to clean it.

The lens fixing bowl on the outer side of the projector lens is also a place where dust is easy to collect. This place has a small space and a gap that connects with the lens, so it is generally difficult to clean. Users can use cotton swabs dipped in anhydrous alcohol to wipe, but they should be careful not to touch the projector lens so as not to damage the lens protective coating.

The lens is one of the important optical instruments of the projector, and it is also the most vulnerable part outside the projector. Therefore, extra care should be taken to clean the lens.
