What Are the Types of Microphone Recording Equipment?

When choosing a microphone for a recording studio, the question often arises: what is the best vocal microphone? How do you define "best"? To what extent is this definition correct? When choosing a microphone for an instrument or a singer, always try to find the one that best fits and captures its dynamic performance. But let's be clear: no one microphone will fit all singers and all songs. Understanding this is important for choosing the right microphone. Next, we will introduce several types of wireless microphone system one after another.
1. Dynamic wireless microphone system
A moving coil wireless microphone is actually a small speaker that generates electrical signals by sensing the vibration of air pressure. Dynamic microphones are very durable and can withstand high sound pressures, but they are less sensitive. While dynamic mics are generally not as sensitive to high frequencies, they are very effective when picking up drum kits, percussion, and guitar/bass amps up close. When used on vocals, dynamic mics can add warmth and dryness to the sound.
2. Condenser wireless mic system
The structure of the condenser microphone is more complicated, and it liberates the diaphragm that was originally tightly covered on the coil in the dynamic microphone. The advantage is that it is more sensitive to high-frequency sounds, and can increase the sense of presence that dynamic microphones lack. Condenser wireless microphone systems are the mainstay of studios of all types, and can handle the miking of most instruments.
Capacitor microphones can be divided into two types: large diaphragm and small diaphragm. The small diaphragm is less sensitive to low-frequency sounds, and is suitable for situations where you want to filter out low-frequency noise, such as acoustic guitars. The quilt can also add a bit of punch to the snare drum, and it's also great for picking up cymbals and percussion instruments. Larger diaphragms pick up more low frequency, and are suitable for situations where full-range sound is required. For vocals, pick up close range; when picking up instruments, generally 1 to 4 feet from the source to avoid overloading, unless the microphone has an output power switch function. The condenser microphone needs to be connected to an external power supply, which is generally provided by the preamplifier. Capacitor microphones are very sensitive to the quality of the power supply, and are not suitable for USB-supplied interfaces.
3. Tube wireless microphone system
The bile microphone is actually a step of adding a layer of electron tube amplification on the basis of the capacitor microphone. All mics require an external power source supplied by the manufacturer to be connected to an outlet, and are uniquely designed to ensure that there is only one correct way to access power. Gallbladder is very sensitive to the environment and can even make a lot of noise. It is usually necessary to turn on the power supply an hour before use to allow the tube to reach a stable state. Gallic mics are known for their warm, low-end potential and gritty high-end, making them ideal for vocal recordings. They are less expressive at high sound pressures, and are usually picked up at a distance for loud instruments. Due to factors such as power supply, wires, and design, the price of bile microphones is much higher than that of capacitor microphones.
4. Ribbon wireless microphone system
Ribbon wireless microphone systems are some of the most sensitive and unique in sound in the studio. A good ribbon mic can give you unimaginable detail, and that detail comes with the hassle of adding ambient noise. It is best to use it with a preamplifier specially designed for ribbon microphones. Modern ribbon mics are a bit more durable than older ones, and won't be scrapped immediately if they accidentally get plugged in. Never blow on the ribbon microphone. Traditional ribbon mics pick up sound at a distance, but modern mics can withstand higher sound pressures, which are great for picking up guitar amps.
