Sensors are used to provide position feedback to control systems in automated machinery and equipment. For the magnetic sensor application where position feedback is critical, cylinders use sensors to detect the linear position of the piston. The most common type of sensor used for cylinders is a magnetic proximity sensor, which detects the magnetic field of a magnet integrated in the cylinder piston. The magnetic sensors for cylinders are mounted on the cylinder block and will indicate "on" or "off" depending on the proximity to the magnet. Depending on the application, a variety of different magnetic sensors for cylinders technologies can be used to maximize performance, space, and reliability.

Working Process of magnetic sensors for cylinders
The air source pushes the piston to the side of the cylinder.

When the piston inside the cylinder comes near the magnetic sensors for cylinders, they sense the magnetic field on the piston.

The magnetic cylinder reed switch sends a positioning signal to the PLC in the equipment.

PLC controls the reversing of the air source, and the piston moves to the other side of the cylinder to form reciprocating work.

Difference between Magnetic And Non Magnetic Pneumatic Cylinder
With a magnet, a magnetic switch can be configured to determine the position of the piston or do other linkage control. After the switch senses the cylinder piston, the microcomputer executes the next command.
