米GEとGreenko、インドで風力発電事業に1億1500万ドルを投資
(2011年10月12日)米複合企業ゼネラル・エレクトリック（General Electric、GE）とクリーンエネルギー開発を手掛けるインドのGreenkoは、インドでの風力発電事業に1億1500万ドルを投資する。Greenkoがインド全域で計画する1ギガワットの風力発電プロジェクトのうち、500メガワットのプロジェクト開発を支援するもので、GEが5000万ドル、Greenkoが6500万ドルを拠出する。
現在、インドのマハラシュトラ（Maharashtra）州、アンドラ・プラデシュ（Andhra Pradesh）州、カルナータカ（Karnataka） 州、ラジャスタン（Rajasthan）州でプロジェクトが進められている。最初のプロジェクトであるマハラシュトラ州南部の65メガワットのラトナギリ(Ratnagiri) 風力発電所は12月に完成が予定されている。GEの出力1.6メガワットの風力タービンが使用され、同州のプネ（Pune）にあるGEの工場で組み立てられる。
500メガワットの同プロジェクトが完成すれば、約87万5000世帯の電力需要を賄い、年間70万トンの温室効果ガスの排出を削減できる。
