Simply put, the craftsmanship made by attaching a glassy enamel glaze to the metal surface and then baking it at a high temperature is called enamel. Let's take a brief look at the craftsmanship and production procedures of personalised enamel badges.

The first step is model making. Make molds, and use computer software to make files that can be used by the engraving machine according to the drawings. Most of the molds nowadays are machine-engraved. Because of the fully automatic machine carving, the carved birds and animals, portraits, landscapes, etc. are vivid, which increases a lot of brilliance to the three-dimensional effect of the personalised enamel badges.

The second step is to make the blank. Use the carved mold to press the required copper blank. Generally, copper is used as the blank. Sometimes, silver powder is used to weld the required accessories, such as safety pins, and then pickling and so on.

The third step is to apply the enamel material. According to the designed drawings, fill the prepared enamel material in layers, generally higher than the metal wire frame, and then put it in a high-temperature oven for baking, so that the color material is completely cured and reaches a certain hardness, then the next process can go on.

The fourth step is smoothing. Grinding generally uses a metallographic grinding wheel to smooth the paint surface until all the metal wire frames are exposed, and the glaze surface is completely smooth. If there is any unevenness, it needs to be re-colored, baked and smoothed until inspection is qualified, then the next process can be continued.

The fifth step is polishing. First rough polishing, then fine polishing, adding lubricating materials such as paraffin wax to make the surface delicate and smooth. The polished product has a smooth surface like a mirror, which is very ornamental.

The sixth step is electroplating. Electroplating can be customized according to customer requirements such as gold plating, nickel plating, chrome plating and copper plating. The polished product can be electroplated after being pickled. After electroplating, the enamel badge will be cleaned with water and dried, and a personalised enamel badge that has been carefully made is finished.
