1. What is catnip?
Catnip, also called cat grass, and known as Nepeta, is a non-toxic and harmless herb. When selling cat toys, many domestic pet shops will give away catnip, which can not only excites cats but also can induce vomiting hairballs. Catnip contains a chemical substance called nepetalactone, which can stimulate sensory neurons connected to the brain. After eating it, cats will have short-term behavior changes, which will not cause harm to the cat's body, and has no addiction to cats.

2. How will cats react to catnip toys?
When cats smell the catnip toys, they will rub their heads, jump and roll, or make noises, and this reaction will last for about 10 minutes. Most cats' reactions to catnip are hereditary, and about 50% of cats have this reaction. But catnip has little effect on kittens less than six months old. 
3. Is catnip harmful to cats?
Generally speaking, catnip is not substantially harmful to the health of cats, but do not put catnip in the cat's food bowl, because if they eat too much, they will have digestive problems. Try to shorten the frequency of use to once a week. Also, don't give catnip to kittens and pregnant cats, because it is not safe for them.
