3. Install SCSI Scanner

SCSI scanner is also a typical scanner at present. The installation of this scanner is relatively more complicated than that of the previous two types of scanners. When installing a scanner using SCSI interface, everyone needs to open the chassis of the computer connected to the scanner and select an idle PCI slot, then insert the SCSI interface card attached to the scanner into the PCI slot, and then use screws to fix the SCSI card in the chassis of the computer. Next, we will use the SCSI cable attached to the scanner to connect the scanner to the interface on the SCSI card in the corresponding computer chassis. Then the power is switched on in the order of “ scanner first and computer later”. The Windows system in the computer will automatically detect the SCSI interface card installed in the system. According to the different versions of the Windows system, the computer will automatically recognize the SCSI interface card and set up the driver corresponding to the card. If the SCSI interface card is not recognized by the system, a device installation wizard dialog box will open to complete the scanner installation according to the prompt instructions. When installing the scanner SCSI interface card, the system prompts that when encountering hardware conflicts, especially when several SCSI devices are connected to the same SCSI interface, the ID identification of each SCSI device needs to be set, and the SCSI terminator needs to be set appropriately, so as to ensure the scanner is used correctly. Finally, we will complete the installation of scanner application software and other auxiliary software according to the methods described above.

How to install a scanner

1. Install local scanner

Most scanners on the market today are connected to computers through universal serial buses (USB) cables, such as book and document scanner. But do not plug in the cable! For some scanners, you are required to install the driver software before connecting the USB cable, so please always follow the installation instructions provided with the device.

If the USB scanner does not come with specific installation instructions, plug it into your computer and Windows will install it automatically. If the scanner is an old model, it may need to be installed manually. Please refer to Using the Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard for instructions.

(1) Insert the power transformer into the power socket of the scanner;

(2) Plug the other end of the power transformer into your AC outlet;

(3) Plug the USB square connector into the USB port behind the scanner;

(4) Insert the USB rectangular connector plug into the USB port behind the computer host;

(5) When the USB port of the computer is plugged in, a "new hardware" screen prompt will appear on the computer screen;

(6) Click on the prompt screen and continue the installation according to the steps;

(7) After the software is installed, turn off all programs and click "Finish";

(8) Restart the computer so that the scanner is installed.

2. Install the network scanner

Network scanners are usually found in the workspace. Before starting the operation, it is helpful to know the scanner model and manufacturer name.

Open the Network by clicking the picture of the Start button and then clicking Control Panel, open "Network". In the search box, type the network, and then under Network and Sharing Center, click View Network Computers and Devices.

Locate and right-click the desired scanner, and then click "Install".

Follow the instructions to complete the add scanner operation.
