1. HOW LONG DOES THE EPOXY RESIN ADHESIVE TAKE TO CURE?

Adding the curing agent to the epoxy resin adhesive, and the curing time is different according to different curing agent types and different external environments. The ratio of epoxy resin adhesive and curing agent generally follows the principle of equivalence, which does not mean that the more curing agent, the shorter the curing time, and the amount has no relationship with the curing time.

The curing time is mainly affected by the activity of the curing agent, among the curing agents at room temperature, aliphatic amines can basically be cured in five or six hours, and polyamides are slightly slower, but satisfactory results can also be achieved in two or three days. Of course, after the accelerator is added, the curing speed can be faster, but if the curing speed is too fast, the glue lacks a suitable process, and there is a risk of explosion when the temperature is high in summer.

The curing time of epoxy resin adhesive and curing agent is also related to curing temperature. Generally speaking, under the same curing agent conditions, the higher the temperature, the shorter the curing time. In order to meet different industrial uses, the epoxy resin adhesive produced in the market now has a curing time of a few minutes, one or two hours (under normal temperature or heating), and some can be completely cured under normal temperature conditions for more than ten or tens of hours. Also, there are some one-component UV-curable glues, the main component is also epoxy resin adhesive, which is cured by UV light, and the curing time only takes tens of seconds to two to three minutes.

2. THE CURING TIME OF EPOXY RESIN ADHESIVE IN WINTER

The temperature is one of the main reasons that affect the curing speed of epoxy resin adhesive. The higher the environment temperature, the faster the curing speed,the normal temperature for natural curing of epoxy resin adhesive is 25-30℃, and the minimum is not less than 20°C, the maximum temperature of baking-curing does not exceed 60°C. The temperature in most places in winter is relatively low, and most of them are below 0°C, such a curing environment will seriously affect the curing speed of epoxy resin adhesive, therefore, the low temperature in winter causes the exothermic chemical reaction of the epoxy resin adhesive to slow down, and the curing speed will also be slow.
