The main component of hydrocolloid wound dressing is a hydrocolloid with very strong hydrophilic ability - sodium carboxymethyl cellulose particles, which together with hypoallergenic medical viscose, together with elastomers and plasticizers, constitute the main body of the dressing. Its surface is a layer of semi-permeable polymer membrane structure.
1. Hydrocolloid wound dressings contain the following properties
(1) It has the ability to absorb wound exudate. After absorbing exudate, the hydrophilic particles in the dressing can form a gel-like semi-solid substance that adheres to the wound base, providing and maintaining a moist environment conducive to wound healing.

(2) It is viscous and can form a closed wound. A closed healing environment can promote the proliferation of microvessels and the formation of granulation tissue, thereby accelerating wound healing.

(3) It can play the debridement function. On the one hand, hydrocolloids contain endogenous enzymes, which can promote the dissolution of fibrin; on the other hand, the airtight environment provided by hydrocolloid wound dressings is conducive to the removal of necrotic tissue by macrophages.

2. The scope of application of hydrocolloid wound dressings
(1) Transparent stickers are mainly used for wounds with less exudate such as: superficial burns, partial skin burns, donor site wounds, postoperative wounds and skin abrasions. The sacral silicone foam dressing in the transparent patch is suitable for sacrococcygeal wounds.

(2) Ulcer patch is mainly suitable for wounds with low to moderate exudate such as leg ulcers and pressure ulcers; also used for superficial burns, partial skin burns, donor site wounds, postoperative wounds and skin abrasions .

(3) Decompression stickers are mainly used for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.

(4) Butterfly stickers are mainly used for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers that are difficult to fix.

3. Clinical application of hydrogel wound dressings

(1) Wound care

Hydrogel wound dressings can also be used in the care of acute wounds. For wounds in the lesion area, the healing time after treatment with hydrogel dressings is shortened by about 40% compared with traditional treatment methods. Hydrogel wound dressings have similar beneficial effects in the treatment of superficial and surgical wounds. In addition, in the treatment of burns, hydrogel dressings have the effect of reducing pain in patients.

(2) Wound Care For children

Hydrocolloids are also an ideal dressing for children. Active children can still play untethered after a hydrocolloid dressing is applied, as the airtight nature of the dressing protects the wound from infection by bacteria that may come into contact. In addition, the hydrocolloid dressing does not cause pain to children when it is torn off.

Hydrocolloid wound dressings are mainly used for the treatment of chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers and venous ulcer wounds. Pressure ulcers are a complication of long-term bedridden patients and a major problem in clinical nursing. Hydrocolloid dressings are often used to treat pressure ulcers. Numerous clinical studies have shown that hydrocolloid dressings are superior to traditional gauze dressings in terms of wound healing, the number of dressing changes, and the degree of pain to the patient during dressing changes.
