（声）臓器移植の道、子供に広げよ

臓器移植法に基づく最初の脳死移植が国内で実施されてから10年が経過した。だが、脳死による臓器提供を受けたのはわずか81例だという。
わが子は1年半前、生後11カ月で移植手術を受けた。移植臓器が肝臓だったので妻から子への生体肝移植を選択した。
移植には提供者の意思や子供の生命力、移植のタイミング、医師の技術などが欠かせないが、わが子の場合は多くの条件がそろった。
しかし、現在の臓器移植法では15歳未満の臓器提供は認められておらず、体のサイズの問題などから、子供が国内で心臓移植などを受けるのは困難な状況だ。
世界保健機関（WHO）は今年5月、臓器売買や渡航移植を減らすために指針を改定する予定で、海外での移植も困難になってくるだろう。
日本に住んでいるだけで、大きな未来を秘める子供たちの命の選択肢が狭められるのは悲しい。早急に国会審議を進め、移植を望む子供たちの生きる機会を少しでも広げてもらいたい。
