（声）臓器提供者の家族の視点も

「臓器移植法の 改正を祈って」（9月26日）を読んで気になったことがある。移植を受ける側の健康や命ばかりに焦点を当て、提供者側の視点が欠けている、ということである。
臓器移植を支えるのは、医療の技術や法律だけではない。まず提供者やその家族の善意や理解があってこそである。脳死が「死」であることに全く異論がなければ、臓器移植は進むかもしれない。しかし、脳死の状態ではまだ体温があり、また脳死宣告後に出産した例もある。
脳死状態は必ず死に至るといわれるが、子、配偶者、恋人、親、きょうだいが目の前で脳死状態になったとき、あたたかい手を握り締めながら、告げられた死を認められるだろうか。臓器移植には死の定義の問題、提供者の家族の深い悲しみや葛藤（かっとう）が必ず伴う。
家族という結びつき、生きるということ、死ぬということを改めて問い直し、臓器の提供者側、移植を受ける側の双方の視点からとらえる必要があろう。
