セラミック製銘板の原版ののプラスティック版
そのやり方はマンゾーニとロバート・バリーの空き部屋を想起させるものだったが、（イギリスの）王室美術カレッジの彫刻家の学生ギャヴィン・タークは、課程修了の成績評価のための発表に際し、スタジオを空っぽにして、たった1つのものを展示した。それは銘板だった。ロンドンではよく見かける、著名な人物がかつて住んでいた建物に表示されている銘板、それに似ていた。そこには「彫刻家ギャヴィン・タークはここで制作した。1989−1991年」と浮き彫りで書かれていた。ここで注目すべきは、それが反体制的な冗談ではなく、銘板としてはずかしくない、しかも格式あるものがちゃんと掲げてあったという点である。ところが反動的な教師たちは、すぐさま彼を落第にしてしまった。だが、ロンドンの最有力画廊が即座に動き、タークと契約を結んだ。プラスティック製の同じ銘板が、100点限定で、あっというまに出回った。
